Sheriff's Office recovers body from river

On April 1 at approximately 1938 hours the Wahkiakum Sheriff’s Office was notified that a commercial vessel had located a deceased individual floating down river near the upstream end of the Cathlamet channel. Sheriff Mason and Deputy Getman responded in the patrol vessel and secured the decedent at approximately 2034 hours. The Cowlitz County coroner’s office met us at the Elochoman Marina and took custody of the remains. The following evening the general height and weight as well as several clothing articles were matched to a missing juvenile report out of Vancouver, WA. This information was passed on to the coroner’s office and Vancouver PD. On Saturday April 5, 2025, the Cowlitz county Coroner’s office positively Identified the decedent as the missing juvenile from Vancouver.
