Wahkiakum FFA earns big wins with district contest

The Wahkiakum FFA (Future Farmers of America) chapter proudly hosted the second round of the district competition on Friday, March 28, at Wahkiakum High School. FFA not only welcomed competitors from across the region but secured several top placements as well.

Among the standout performances, Wahkiakum’s Creed Speaker and Anna Vik clinched first place, while Ryen Hurley secured third, and Josh Moon followed closely in fourth. In the Prepared Public Speaking contest, Colin Odom impressed the judges and earned second place. All four competitors have now qualified for the state competition, which will be held in May in Kennewick.

The district-level competition saw participation from 10 FFA chapters, bringing together 75 students to showcase their skills in various contests. In addition to the creed and public speaking events, students competed in multiple agricultural leadership and career development contests, making for a highly competitive and educational experience.

“This event provided an excellent opportunity for students to challenge themselves and refine their skills in a real-world setting,” said Wahkiakum FFA Advisor Kyle Hurley. “We’re incredibly proud of our members for their hard work and dedication, and we look forward to seeing them compete at the state level.”

The Wahkiakum FFA Chapter extends its gratitude to all participants, judges, and supporters who helped make the event a success. As the chapter prepares for the upcoming state competition, the community remains eager to support these students in their continued achievements.

Stay tuned for future announcements and updates on Wahkiakum FFA’s journey to state.
