Mules golf coach seeks community support

To The Eagle,

As Wahkiakum High School’s head golf coach, it is an honor to announce that our back-to-back 2023-2024 state champion girls golf team and boys golf team are back in action this month for the start of another spring season. Each one of our student athletes have been working hard year round to keep their golf skills sharp and are now ready to secure another state title. But there is still work to be done.

Every year, the Wahkiakum High School golf team asks its community for support to help supply rain gear, practice equipment, balls, tees, gloves and green fees which enable our high school golfers to develop this lifelong sport. We make this annual ask to supplement the ongoing fundraising efforts that our program organizes throughout the year.

Every dollar our program earns goes directly to our kids. We have grown our golf program from 12 golfers in 2024 to 16 registered golfers this year, including our returning girls state champion team of Brie Cothren and Jessie LeFever. Our ability to supply the equipment and opportunities needed for new and experienced youth golfers is the foundation of our program.

Please consider supporting the 2025 Wahkiakum High School golf program by making a financial contribution. You can send checks to Wahkiakum High School (500 South 3rd, Box 398, Cathlamet, WA 98612). Checks can be made payable to the “WHS Golf Team.” If you have any questions, please contact me at aweiler@wahksd.k12.wa.us or call the high school at (360) 795-3271.
