Gary Raymond Tischer (GTO Gary), 81 passed away February 28, 2025, at Chaplaincy Hospice Kennewick, WA. With his family by his side.
Gary was born October 11th, 1943, in Breckenridge Minnesota to Raymond and Artyce Tischer- Quigley
Gary graduated from Naselle High School class of 1962; he then joined the US Air Force Reserves.
He married Sharon Bunn June 4th, 1966, in Skamokawa WA. She preceded him in death in 2004. Also preceding were his brother John, sister Janine, nephew Jeff Pummell and nieces Darcy Tischer, Jennifer Lee and Linda Peckham.
He is survived by daughters Amanda Tischer and Heidi (Guy) Bridges; brothers Lee (Diane) Tischer and Brent (Brenda) Tischer; sisters Sandy (Bill) Laycock, Sharlene (Alan) West, Beverly (Duane) Gruenberg; five grandchildren, Antonio Tischer, Mercedes (Daniel) Perry, Alexus AyalaMartinez, Ilyah Williams and Taylor Bridges; and three great-grandchildren, Rowan AyalaMartinez, Dani Perry and Aasire Williams.”
Gary owned and operated Accutran Transmissions for 46 years in Burien WA. Retiring at the age of 80. Gary belonged to the NW GTO Legends Club and his red 1964 GTO won awards everywhere he took it. He was a walking encyclopedia of knowledge pertaining to GTO’s.
Gary was an avid UW Husky football fan and hosted many Apple Cup parties at his house in Renton.
He never met a stranger and his laughter and love for life was contagious. He was one of those who danced as no one was looking and sang “Garyoke” with his Ray Charles voice and for everyone who knew him, “It Was A Wonderful World”
There will be two celebrations of life, May 3rd @ 5421 W. Richardson Rd. Pasco WA. And July 26th @ Skamokawa Fairgrounds Park.
