Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

FOS celebrates 40 years

Friends of Skamokawa Organization is celebrating 40 years in 2025. A special thanks goes out to all community members throughout the years who have made this all possible. Our mission is "to promote, support and enhance the Skamokawa Historic District through the interpretation of its natural and human history." Over the years volunteers, grants, membership, the Road Scholar Program, and public support have kept this mission alive. We are here to share local history with pictorial displays and reflections of a rivertown. Thank you for your patronage and support.

The River Life Interpretive Center, gift shop, and bookstore will be open March 8 for another busy season. For a donation, visitors can self-tour this 1894 schoolhouse and Fraternal Redmen Hall. This historical gem is 131 years old.

Group tours are also available with a local historian. Call the office (360-795-3007) to book a tour. Proceeds go to maintaining this unique building. Our annual Membership Meeting and Pie Social is scheduled for Sunday March 16, starting at 2 p.m. at which Board elections, financial status, yearly success, and goals will be reported. At 2:30 p.m., Dayle Olsen will entertain with her poetry, and 3 p.m. is the Pie Social, which will be a fun time to visit with friends. The public and new members are welcome. Yearly membership is $35 for a single person and $50 for a couple. Members receive 10% off books and gifts.
