Wahkiakum School District to hold superintendent interviews on Feb. 28

Wahkiakum School District is moving forward in its search for a new superintendent, with a full day of interviews and public engagement scheduled for Friday, Feb. 28. The process will involve multiple stakeholders, ensuring the community has a voice in this critical leadership decision.

Candidates have been selected by the Board of Education to go through the interview process for the superintendent position. Potential district leaders will go through a series of interviews with the school board, staff members, student leaders, and department directors. These interviews will provide insight into each candidate’s leadership style, vision for the district, and ability to address the challenges and opportunities facing Wahkiakum schools.

As part of the interview process, candidates will also visit all school facilities, allowing them to observe the district’s environment. Candidates will have a full day of interacting with staff and community, as well as touring the facilities and allowing interview committees to assess how well each candidate connects with the school community and understands the district’s unique needs.

An open forum will be held exclusively for staff members, offering teachers and school personnel a chance to engage directly with the candidates, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of their qualifications and goals for the district. This session is designed to foster transparency and provide educators with a platform to share their insights and concerns.

The day will conclude with a public social event from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Community members will have the opportunity to meet and greet each candidate. This informal gathering will allow parents, students, and residents to interact with the finalists, ask questions, and provide feedback to the school board. Public input is a vital component of the superintendent selection process, as the chosen candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of Wahkiakum schools.

The school board encourages all community members to participate in this process. The selection of a superintendent is a pivotal moment for the district, impacting students, staff, and families for years to come. By engaging in the interview process and attending the public social event, residents can ensure their voices are heard and can contribute to selecting the best leader for Wahkiakum School District.
