Sheriff's Report

February 17, 7:34 p.m. The Grays River Ambulance responded to a call for an Elderly Grays River resident who fell. 8:55 p.m. A caller on SR4 near the county line called to report that a fallen tree was blocking both lanes.

February 18, 7:38 p.m. There was water reported over the roadway in three different places on Eden Valley Rd. Signs being put in place by authorities. 3:31 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of vandalism at the Elochoman Slough Marina; someone had broken into the facilities and damaged the shower door. 4:31 p.m. A resident of Foster Rd. called to report that a door at a neighboring residence appeared broken open. When deputies they could not open the door to clear it because it was chained shut. 6:46 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that nearby dogs were barking but confirmed that were still in their fenced area.

February 19, 10:02 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary alarm triggered in Cathlamet and found that contractors had mistakenly set off the alarm. 1:18 p.m. A caller on SR4 west of Skamokawa called to report a vehicle in the ditch; the driver was on the scene and unharmed. 3:52 p.m. A caller on Morgan Drive reported a dead possum on the road; County Roads removed the animal. 4:38 p.m. A Puget Island resident requested a Civil Standby from deputies on W Birnie Slough Rd. 7:36 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a triggered burglar alarm at a Cathlamet business; it is believed the alarm was mistakenly triggered by construction workers and was deactivated by employees. 11:24 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle accident on SR4 and Lassala Rd .; no injuries were reported.

February 20 11:59 a.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to help an injured Cathlamet resident. 1:51 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies assisted a driver on Puget Island who locked their keys in their vehicle. 7:05 p.m. A driver on Main Street in Cathlamet called to report that their vehicle had been hit and the other driver left.

February 21 2:08 a.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to assist an elderly Skamokawa resident who was sick. 9:50 a.m. An elderly Cathlamet resident called for assistance from the Cathlamet Ambulance due to illness. 1:53 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a request to remove three junk vehicles on Greenwood Rd. 2:13 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an elderly Puget Island resident whose friend had not heard from them in a while. 2:51 p.m. A Puget Island resident requested assistance from deputies after locking their keys in their vehicle. 6:36 p.m. A driver on SR4 called to report an erratic driver going westbound, passing Nassa Point.

February 22, 6:59 a.m. A concerned citizen on Altoona-Pillar Rock Rd. called to report that they heard someone fire two shots from the roadway at a herd of elk north of their home. 9:20 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to power outages on E Little Island Rd. and W Birnie Slough Rd; the PUD reported that power had been restored soon after. 10:21 a.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance assisted an elderly Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 3:31 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a driver on SR4 and Coal Creek Rd. who was driving with a child on their lap.

February 23, 9:21 a.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report two loose dogs, who had been repeatedly coming onto their property, were back. The caller said the dogs had killed some of their small farm animals in the past, and they were worried they would continue killing their animals. 3:09 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of someone cutting up wood and possibly stealing it on Beaver Creek Rd. The person said they were clearing it from the road, and deputies told them it’s ok to clear the wood from the roadway, but it is unlawful to cut and take home wood off the roadway because it belongs to DNR. 4:15 p.m. A driver on SR4 called to report that a tree was down and blocking both lanes westbound, west of KM Mountain. 4:26 p.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to assist an Elderly Puget Island resident with breathing troubles. 10:16 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that a dog had been barking for the last 30 minutes or so.
