Recently, I interviewed Stephanie Leitz of Puget Island for our third installment of Reader's Fave. This is a casual talk with someone who shares their favorite book.
Right at the start, Stephanie said, "Picking a favorite book is really difficult for me as I love whatever I am reading." This quickly became apparent. However, Stephanie did share that her recent favorite book was "The Women" by Kristin Hannah, a book about the women nurses serving during the Vietnam war. Incidentally, this book is in our library.
Stephanie shared another book she recently enjoyed, "The Anxious Generation" by Jonathan Haidt. The book is about teens and their mental health in regards to technology and social media. It is evident that as an educator, Stephanie is dedicated to providing support to her students. As she puts it, "I love learning about people."
While she enjoys books for her own personal enjoyment, along with ongoing learning for her high school responsibilities, Stephanie also shared, "One of my all time favorites is a children's book called "Picky Mrs. Pickle" by Christine Schneider. It was the first book my daughter, Ellie learned to read by herself. She loved it, and it is a book we often referenced as my kids were growing up. 'Don't be like Picky Mrs. Pickle.'"
Stephanie is clearly a reader. She mentioned how her home was always filled with books. After visiting the library books would be scattered all over the floor.
Stephanie put it best when she said, "The world is so much better if you are willing to try new things." Until the next Reader's Fave, enjoy reading.
