The Clatskanie High School girls basketball team is currently riding a five-game winning streak and have won 11 out of their last 12 games following Monday's 56-29 win at Portland Christian. The Tigers set the tone early by nearly doubling up the Royals 17-9 entering the second quarter. Clatskanie would continue to make its lead more unattainable by its host, outscoring Portland Christian 16-7 and 17-5 in the second and third quarters respectively. Junior Joey Sizemore led the team in points with 22, rebounds with 15, assists with nine, and blocks with four. Sophomore Paytan Taylor led the team in steals with three to go along with her five rebounds. Junior Mya Jensen managed a pair of points, assists, and steals, while junior Bethany Hagen scored four points and senior Karielle Carlson dished out three assists.

On Friday, Jan. 24, the Tigers traveled to Portland to take on Columbia Christian. Outscoring the Knights in each quarter, Clatskanie pulled off a 46-18 road victory to extend their win streak. Sizemore scored 26 points after going 11 for 23 from the field. Sizemore also led the team in assists with four and, with 10 rebounds and an astounding 10 steals, was able to pull off a rare triple double. The girls pulled off a narrow 47-44 victory over Astoria's Knappa High School on Tuesday, Jan. 21. George and Sizemore each had a double double for the Tigers, with George's 16 points leading all scorers and Sizemore's 19 rebounds setting the tone defensively for the girls. George managed to haul down 12 rebounds, while Sizemore's 11 points complemented her team-leading eight assists and four blocks. Sizemore, George, and Willis each had two steals to lead the Tigers. Willis added 11 points as well in the narrow victory over the Loggers.

The Tigers (13-4) hosted Vernonia Wednesday, Jan. 29, but the results of the game were not available at the time of press. The girls will remain at home Friday, Jan. 31, to host Nestucca High School of Cloverdale at 6 p.m. inside the Clatskanie gym. Nestucca represents the team's only loss over its last 12 games; a one-point road defeat at the hands of the Bobcats on Monday, Jan. 13. The girls will then travel to Aloha to take on Faith Bible Christian on Tuesday, Feb 4.
