Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Jan Silvestri, the President of Helgeland Lodge 2-30 for the past 40 years and who has given a lifetime of service to the lodge, handed her gavel to incoming President Steve Stomme on Jan. 8 at the Norse Hall. Jan received a standing ovation from the members and a beautiful red and yellow rose bouquet as a gift from members Alice and Charlie Miller. Elmer Kurtti, the President of Breidablik Lodge in Kelso was the installing officer. The newly elected officers were Vice President Sue Johnson, Secretary Susan Brown, Treasure Linda Wright and Trustees Jan Silvestri, Kerry Brown, Cameron Monte and Robert Hicks. The Trustees unable to attend the installation were Olaf Thomason, Fred Ostling, Charlie Miller and Bill Peterson. Star Anderson Hicks was installed as Publicity Director and Foundation Director in a new role for the Lodge. Star is one of several hardworking members in our lodge, not just in her title, but in every other aspect of the lodge’s activities and functions.
Before the installation Jan announced the lodge had won first place in the annual food drive for the second year in a row. Jan presented the lodge with the “Cup of Sunshine 2024” trophy made by local Artist Ruth Doumit. Following the ceremony, cake and ice cream was enjoyed by the members.
We invite our community to become members of our lodge. In addition, the Norse Hall is for rent for your next function. Please contact Sue Johnson at (360) 244-0145 for information on renting the hall.
