Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:
November 25 8:11 a.m. A Puget Island caller reported dogs chasing donkeys and deer in their field. 12:55 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported finding a backpack and a tarp on their neighbors property line and the state right of way. The caller disposed of the items. 3:41 p.m. A single vehicle accident was reported on SR4 near Miller road. A tow truck was requested through the Washington State Patrol. 4:23 p.m. A caller reported damage to a fence at Strong Park in Cathlamet. 5:01 p.m. A caller reported hitting a deer on Puget Island which damaged their license plate. 6:47 p.m. A landslide was reported near Bjorsgard road on the east side of KM mountain, partially blocking one lane.
November 26 2:03 p.m. A Skamokawa resident called to report that they had lost their phone. 2:27 p.m. Cathlamet emergency services responded to an elderly Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 9:17 p.m. A driver reported going off the road in the S curves west of County Line Park.
November 27 5:18 p.m. A Deep River homeowner reported that there was a vehicle at their neighbor’s house and that the neighbor was out of town. The person called a second time to report that the lights in a trailer on the property were now on. The Washington State Patrol and Sheriff’s deputies responded and found the homeowner who said that the person in the trailer had permission to be there. 5:56 p.m. A person was reported walking east of Deep River on SR4. A Washington State Patrol officer gave the person a ride to Naselle. 9:13 p.m. A vehicle was reported pointing a spotlight into fields on Puget Island. 9:17 p.m. A motorist reported their vehicle had broken down west of County Line Park. The person said they would return in the morning to retrieve the vehicle. 9:40 p.m.
November 28 9:46 a.m. A rollover single vehicle accident was reported on Salmon Creek road. Sheriff’s department and the Grays River Fire Department responded. 4:58 p.m. A Cathlamet resident asked for assistance getting their keys out of a locked car. The person called back to report that they had found their keys inside their house. 5:24 p.m. A motorist east of Seal River road reported hitting an elk. 5:30 p.m. A east county resident reported that their elderly spouse was not well. Cathlamet emergency services responded. 5:48 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that their spouse, who had been recently discharged from the hospital needed to return.
November 29 12:48 p.m. A Westend resident reported a motorcyclist speeding on Deep River road. 3:46 p.m. A caller reported that the fence at Strong Park had been vandalized again. Deputies found the fence moved but undamaged. 11:37 p.m. A burglar alarm was triggered at a Deep River home. The security company cancelled the alarm.
November 30 8:33 a.m. A Westend caller reported that the people they live with had their car towed as a junk vehicle salvage. Dispatch told the person that the issue was a civil matter. 2:20 p.m. A beagle dog with a tracking collar on it was found and thought to be abandoned. A deputy contacted the owner who would pick up the dog.
December 1 8:16 a.m. A tree was reported partially blocking the west bound lane of SR4 in the passing lane west of the county line. 11:37 p.m. A dog was reported chasing deer on Puget Island. 10:48 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a possible allergic reaction. The person declined transportation to the hospital.
