Main Street Closed for Lighted Parade Saturday
This Saturday December 7th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. there will be several street closures for the Wahkiakum Lighted Christmas Parade. From SR4, roads will be closed at Main Street, Chester Street and Una Ave. Traffic to the Ferry and Puget Island will detour from Columbia Street to Front Street for the one-hour closure. Streets will also be closed at Main and Broadway and 2nd Street at Una Ave.
The parade will start at the Elochoman Marina at 6 p.m. and head east on 3rd Street, turning south to Chester Street, then south down Main Street, west on Broadway, and then head back to the marina by going north on River Street and finally turning west on 3rd Street.
It may be raining, so bundle up and bring your umbrella to the marina or downtown Cathlamet to watch the lights in motion. Or stay dry watching the parade from your car. Parking in town will be allowed, just remember that for everyone’s safety the streets will be closed for the parade so you will need to be in place by 5:45 p.m. and you will not be able to move your car until after the parade is over, usually before 6:30. Let’s have a fun and safe parade this year.
Entries for the parade should be at the marina to line up at 5:15 p.m .; a check in desk will be located across from River Mile 38 Brewing Co. Applications can be picked up at The Wahkiakum Eagle, The Bank of the Pacific and the Wahkiakum Chamber or you can download one with instructions from our Facebook page @WahkiakumLighted ChristmasParade. The Wahkiakum Lighted Christmas Parade is hosted by the Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce.
Questions on the parade can be sent to wahparade@gmail.com, or contact Paige Lake at (360) 269-6737.
