Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Carol Richardson, 79 of Cathlamet, passed from this world into God's loving arms on November 15th, 2024. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Born in January 1945 in Boise, Idaho to Eleanor (Montez) and Reuben Cortes, Carol was known to light up the room and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a champion for the underdog, loved to ride her ATV on the Oregon sand dunes, loved to listen to many genres of music, had a wonderful singing voice, and loved adventures. She was passionate about her politics and her cooking.
After attending Boise State University, Carol, along with her husband at the time, Gordon Howie, moved to Seattle, Washington. Carol worked as an administrative assistant and office manager throughout her life and had three children: Steve Gay, Mark Howie, and Michael Rossman. She moved to Cathlamet in 2005 where she enjoyed riding her scooter, fishing in the Columbia River, and lived her last days cooking incredible dishes for family and friends. Carol is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Deb Howie, Lorrie Gay, Dawn Hutton, her friend and partner Mel Venard, a sister Gloria, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several pets. She will be dearly missed by many.
