HHS has utility assistance avaliable

Do you need a little help paying your water and sewer bill? Would you like to buy propane or a cord of wood? Have you used up all your LIHEAP and REAP benefits for the year but still need assistance with your electrical bill? If you act fast, you may be able to take advantage of Emergency Food and Shelter Program funding, thanks to United Way.

You might be surprised to learn who qualifies for this one-time assistance. The income limit for a single person is $50,400; $57,600 for a two-person household; $64,800 for a three-person household; $72,000 for a four-person household, and $77,000 for a five-person household. It goes up from there.

At Wahkiakum County Health and Human Services, Community Outreach Specialist Karisa Shaw would like to help reduce the financial burden for anyone struggling to make ends meet, so please consider taking advantage of this resource while it is available.

These funds must be spent by Dec. 31, 2024.

If you would like to learn more about the program, call 360-751-0056, or email Shaw at karisan@co.wahkiakum.wa.us.
