Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Clatskanie Arts Commission’s performing arts series is presenting a Celtic Christmas concert with the Men of Worth on Saturday, December 7th at 7:30 p.m. at the Birkenfeld Theatre in Clatskanie, Oregon. Touring together for over thirty years, the Irish and Scottish duo of Men of Worth combine warmth, humor, and playfulness as they perform a mix of holiday favorites.
Originally from small towns in the West of Ireland and the Scottish Isles, the pair play guitars, banjos, mandolins, as well as other traditional instruments, such as the bodhran and concertina. Listen for familiar holiday favorites and enjoy some Celtic classics as well. Enjoy the stories, lore, and lilting harmonies of Gaelic culture without the costly airfare, unpredictable weather, or the TSA line.
Men of Worth are joined by harpist Maureen Brennan, Irish piper and fiddler Kevin Carr and two champion Irish step dancers. The ensemble has taken old and not so old songs and melodies to create a beautiful holiday concert of peace and goodwill. Providing enchanting, haunting melodies and pulsating rhythms A Winter’s Carol is a true celebration of honor and delight in the holiday season.
From their soulful interpretation of the song the Little Drummer Boy with vocals and bodhrans and the spectacular dancing feet of the dancers who provide the hard shoe rhythm to the melody Christmas Eve, the evening is exciting, engaging and enchanting. It is truly a heartfelt, wonderful show.
Tickets are $20 and are available on the Clatskanie Arts Commission website or at the door. The Birkenfeld Theatre is located at 75 South Nehalem Street in Clatskanie Oregon.
