Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:
September 23 9:51 a.m. A homeowner on Puget Island reported a boat speeding, and causing a large wake on Birnie Slough. 11:37 a.m. Cathlamet emergency services responded to an elderly person who had fallen. The person was transported to the hospital in Longview. 11:44 a.m. A welfare check was requested on an elderly Cathlamet resident. Sheriff’s deputies spoke with a neighbor who said the person was out of town. 2:03 p.m. A possible abandoned vehicle was reported on Altoona Pillar Rock Road. Officers contacted the owner who said that they would move the vehicle. 2:46 p.m. A caller in the Elochoman Valley reported a young person riding a motorcycle without a helmet. 5:35 p.m. A motorist near Nassa Point reported a truck with a trailer that had items falling out of it. 7:00 p.m. A verbal trespass was given to a person on Puget Island who would not vacate a property.
September 24 4:32 p.m. The Skamokawa ambulance responded to Vista Park to assist someone who had fallen. 5:35 p.m. A Skamokawa caller reported several tresspassers on their property. Sherriff’s deputies responded to the scene but did not find anyone. 10:35 p.m. A gas station employee reported a motorist who had fallen asleep behind the wheel of their car while pumping gas.
September 25 8:03 a.m. Cathlamet emergency services responded to a person having a seizure. The person was transported to the hospital. 1:24 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported several people trespassing on their property. Deputies responded but did not see anyone.
September 26 5:48 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that their sewer alarm was going off. The Cathlamet fire department responded. The Skamokawa water department was notified. 10:18 a.m. A welfare check was requested on a Puget Island resident. 12:50 p.m. A caller reported a single car accident and a car upside down in the ditch at the intersection of SR4 and Brooks Slough Road. 1:06 p.m. A caller reported that the bus garage at Johnson Park had been broken into. Several items were taken. 1:34 p.m. An erratic driver was reported near Abe Creek on SR4. 2:25 p.m. A traffic incident was reported at the Puget Island bridge. The callers car was sideswiped and the other driver left the scene. 3:20 p.m. A boat was reported stuck in the slough on the west end of Ross Island. The boat owner called back to report that they were no longer stuck. 5:46 p.m. A caller in Skamokawa reported a vehicle speeding and heading towards Cathlamet.
September 27 12:19 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Puget Island address to assist a person experiencing abdominal pain. 12:57 p.m. Wahkiakum On the Move reported a person riding on the bus who seemed to be unsure of where they were going. 2:26 p.m. A noise complaint was received from a Puget Island resident. 3:04 p.m. A Elochoman Valley homeowner saw a vehicle in their driveway on security camera. The homeowner said that they did not recognize the vehicle. 6:34 p.m. A caller reported being in contact with a person walking on Beaver Creek road who looked like they needed assistance and said that they were hungry. Sherrif’s deputies gave the person a ride to a local gas station and bought them dinner.
September 28 9:49 a.m. A caller from Altoona Pillar Rock road reported the smell of paint thinner or diesel near the intersection of Mill road. Dispatch spoke with the caller 30 minutes later and the smell was gone. 2:37 p.m. A Skamokawa caller reported suspicious people across the road fishing in Skamokawa Creek. 2:39 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to an elderly person who was feeling light headed. 4:34 p.m. Cathlamet emergency services responded to a Puget Island resident who had fallen.
September 29 8:20 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a person who was unconscious and unresponsive. 8:58 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Westend resident with breathing problems. 5:48 p.m. A caller reported cows standing on the side of SR4 west of Cathlamet. 8:34 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a resident with breathing problems. 9:09 p.m. A Skamokawa caller reported people trespassing on their property.
