Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Mary Alice Granger

Mary Granger (Snyder), born on June 23, 1945, to Alice and Roy T. Snyder in Longview, WA, peacefully passed away on Sunday July 21, 2024.

Mary’s early years were spent along the Columbia River in beautiful Cathlamet until 1961 when her family relocated to Walla Walla Washington where her parents established Park Manor Nursing Home on Plaza Way. Mary attended DeSales Catholic High School, graduating in 1963. Shortly after, she married James P. Goulet, with whom she had three sons: Paul Scott, James Patrick, and Robert Roy Goulet.

Mary was an active member of the Walla Walla community, where she raised her three boys. She worked at the local JCPenney and pursued her love of painting, becoming a renowned watercolorist. Her love for painting was evident in the beautiful works she created, capturing the landscapes and spirit of the Pacific Northwest.

Following a later marriage to Barry Granger in 1993, Mary found continued joy in sharing her life with someone who shared her passion for Walla Walla. Together they cherished the beauty of their surroundings and the deep connections they made within the community.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved son Robert and her husband Barry. She is survived by her sister Nina Rose Snyder; her sons Paul Scott, and James Patrick (Jessica) her cherished grandchildren Colin Goulet, Alice Meyer (Cody) and her great-granddaughter Eleanor June.

A memorial service to celebrate Mary’s life was held at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens in College Place on August 2, 2024 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital in Mary’s honor.

Rest in peace, Mary Granger. Your kindness and creativity have left an indelible mark on all who knew you.
