Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:

July 14 1:57 a.m. A caller outside of Cathlamet reported heard gunshots and screaming. Deputies responded. 1:22 p.m. A resident in the Westend reported trucks and four wheelers on their neighbor's property. Deputies contacted the homeowner who asked that the motorists be trespassed from the property. When deputies arrived the vehicles were gone. 2:16 p.m. A Puget Island caller reported cars driving at excessive speeds. 3:52 p.m. Cathlamet emergency services responded to a child who had fallen and hit their head. 4:06 p.m. A caller in downtown Cathlamet reported that they had an altercation with a person after reaching for a person’s dog. 5:12 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a kayaker who had capsized and was not breathing. CPR was performed on the kayaker. 6:31 p.m. A homeowner on SR4 reported that several motorcyclists were seen traveling at excessive speeds.

July 15 9:24 a.m. A Cathlamet homeowner reported that a metal lawn ornament was stolen from their property. The caller said that their address was welded to the sign. 10:53 p.m. An illegal burn was reported in the Elochoman Valley. Deputies responded and stayed until the fire was out. 11:26 a.m. A Grays River caller reported that several cows were loose and going into the river. 2:50 p.m. Cathlamet emergency services responded to a person with a facial laceration at the golf course in Cathlamet. 3:35 p.m. A Cathlamet caller requested a welfare check after their spouse had not returned from shopping in town. 6:54 p.m. A power outage was reported in Rosburg; the PUD was notified.

July 16 11:32 a.m. A welfare check was requested on a Puget Island resident who had previously suffered a stroke. Deputies responded, the person declined medical treatment. 4:27 p.m. A Puget Island homeowner reported that their water was discolored. Dispatch contacted the PUD who informed them that they were working in the area and that the water would return to normal. 4:48 p.m. A welfare check was requested on a Skamokawa resident. Deputies responded and found the person in good condition. 5:38 p.m. A explosion was reported at the Elochoman marina. The Cathlamet fire department and the PUD responded and reported that a transformer had malfunctioned. 5:51 p.m. Campers at Vista park called to report that several dogs were wandering around the campground unleashed. 10:28 p.m. A welfare check was requested by the hospital in Longview on a patient who had recently left their care. Deputies made contact with the patient who said that they were fine.

July 17 11:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a resident with breathing problems. 11:55 p.m. A caller in Cathlamet reported that they were being harassed on social media. 6:15 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a firearm had been stolen from their residence. 8:45 p.m. Cows were reported loose on Puget Island.

July 18 12:51 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an elderly person who had fallen. 11:18 a.m. A Puget Island homeowner reported vandalism to their electrical system. Sheriff’s deputies responded. 1:37 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies removed a person from a Puget Island home who repeatedly trespassed on their property. 8:29 p.m. A person on Fossil Creek road requested assistance after a gate had been locked behind them. A officer from Pacific county responded and unlocked the gate. 9:18 p.m. A road rage incident was reported on Puget Island.

July 19 7:48 a.m. A Grays River resident requested medical attention after suffering abdominal pain. 8:01 a.m. A large number of cows were reported loose on Steamboat Slough road. 10:01 a.m. A semi truck was reported driving erratically on SR4 west of Cathlamet. 8:28 p.m. A crash notification was received from a phone in the Deep River area. Dispatch called the phone and the person said that they had dropped a bag that contained their phone.

July 20 9:17 a.m. A Skamokawa caller reported that their vehicle had been stolen while parked in their driveway. The person called back to report that the vehicle was not stolen, that it was parked at the bottom of their driveway. 3:44 p.m. Elochoman marina personnel reported several cars park in fire lanes. 4:17 p.m. A vehicle accident was reported at the Elochoman marina.

July 21 Cathlamet emergency services responded to a elderly person who was having trouble standing. 1:27 a.m. A intoxicated person called dispatch to ask for a ride home. The caller hung up before the call was completed. 2:57 a.m. A person in Cathlamet experiencing a panic attack requested medical attention. 2:06 p.m. The theft of a vehicle was reported on Puget Island. When the vehicle was found in the possession of a relative the person declined to pursue the issue. 4:07 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a person with a head injury. 9:54 p.m. A driver on Puget Island reported hitting a deer. The driver asked deputies to look at their car to determine if it was driveable.
