Higher standard?

To the Eagle,

I found our latest rendition of Bald Eagle Days to be a resounding success. However, there was one exception: our very own State Senator Jeff Wilson. A week after a political assassination attempt, with wars raging in Gaza and Ukraine, and in the middle of a contentious political climate to say the least, Senator Wilson thought it would be a great idea to drive a mock war machine tank and take “shots” at the crowd. This, the same individual who couldn’t keep track of his own firearm and took it on an international flight. I sure hope he can remember where he parks his tank. I understand this tank is nothing more than a toy but what it represents is so much more. Is this really the type of leadership we want in Olympia? I haven’t researched much into who will be running against him in November, but I surely will and there’s a great chance whomever that candidate is, will be getting the support of my vote. It’s time to hold a higher standard in our community, and I feel Senator Wilson is just not it. Be better.

After the events of the past weeks and obviously already a point of contention, are we ready to address the question of undocumented visitors? So many communities across the US have learned to welcome pre-citizen refugees, shouldn't we discuss how we should accommodate their arrival? Washington states birth rate has plummeted 22% over the past 15 years, maybe we should, like Illinois towns, look to planning our future and welcoming our newest citizens.
