Street market, PUD meet, senior friendship group
IN THE BOOKS! The Bald Eagle Days festivities for this year have come and gone but boy, did they get nice weather and a good crowd! I thought it was terrific as I attending a reunion near the marina and the breeze blowing all day made it just perfect. We woke up Sunday morning to some thunder and lightning along with a light sprinkle, I'd say the timing couldn't have been more perfect. Hats off to all those who were in charge of this event and those who took part, from parade participants to vendors and more; It is always a success when everyone pitches in to make it such a great event. If you don’t know we are the only town to do a Bald Eagle Days event, kudos to those in our county who thought this up and who made this a perfect time to get together and celebrate the national symbol of the United States of America. It is also a time when some gather for family reunions and classmates from WA-KI-HI reunite for class reunions. I hope some of you submit some photos of your get-togethers to The Eagle, all of us Mules love to see what our former classmates look like now.
LAST TIME. The WHS Class of 1967 held their last class reunion at the home of Dale Jacobson and we've enjoyed having it there all these years but we'll now be looking for a different spot because, as you get older and slower, sometimes a change is necessary. For all of you 67'ers who get The Eagle, please be sure to get ahold of me and I will keep you updated as we make plans for a new reunion date and place. Thanks again Dale, Bonnie, Karen, and Keith for doing much of the set-up and for providing those delicious ribs. David and Kathi West also brought some great dishes along with the paper supplies, and Linda Toste brought a delicious jello salad and fresh watermelon. We truly enjoyed a visit by Stoney Anketell and we had a surprise visit by 68'er Marcia Snyder Brighton this year, which was a good time together.

USUAL HAPPENINGS. If you're reading this on a Thursday morning, then you have time to get down here to the Skamokawa Grange Hall and enjoy a free community breakfast with your neighbors from 10 a.m. to noon. You can bring your own mug and help cut costs and if you'd like to share a treat with the group you can bring something with you too. Mostly though, it's about getting together and chatting with old friends and meeting new ones, enjoy! Be sure to head to the Elochoman Marina where the weekly Street Market takes place every Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.. On Wednesdays, the Cathlamet Senior Friendship Group meets at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church located at 549 SR 409 on Puget Island where they do various activities from noon to 3 p.m. with multiple subgroups to check out. The contact for that group is Nancy Nelson and you can reach her at 360-747-8070. There is no reason to be bored around here with multiple groups offering various services who are looking for your support in their endeavors, going to these groups and gatherings can put you in touch with the right people: artists, gardeners, historians, quilters, and fundraising events like food banks and clothing banks. Here's to hoping that you'll not just live in this community, but become a real part of it. Welcome to the neighborhood, everybody!
