Classic car lovers, start your engines, polish up your chrome, and dust off the dice because It's time for the Cathlamet Cruise. On the third Friday of every month, Cathlamet will now have a classic car cruise from Main Street through downtown. Organizer Janine Davidson thought it would be a wonderful way to gather local cruisers with collectible cars for a jaunt around Wahkiakum County. Before, the closest cruise was in Longview, held on the first weekend of the month, and was not convenient for those with great classic cars right here in Wahkiakum County.
Friday, July 26 at 6:30 p.m., the Cathlamet Cruisers will join at 38 River Mile as an inaugural event and rev up interest in the monthly galivant through the streets of Cathlamet. "Drive your car to the meeting so we can all admire your rigs and possibly have an impromptu cruise if enough vehicles show up" shares Davidson. Vehicles do not have to be old and considered classic, "If it has four wheels and it brings you joy and you're looking for a reason to take it out of the garage, then bring it!"
The Davidsons own a 1971 Lemans they've nicknamed Michelle. Greg Davidson, a race car driver, loves burning up the pavement and cruising to other car shows in his own classic car. Together he and Janine hope to bring life to the spirit of classic cars that reside here in Wahkiakum County. Showing off the classics in Cathlamet could be a boost for local businesses since community members are encouraged to come out and enjoy an evening at one of the fine eateries while appreciating a caravan of classic chrome.

We just returned from the cruise 9-20. Very nice people, beautiful scenery out on the island during the cruise. We are looking forward to these next year or whenever another event occurs. Had dinner at the Spar and went down to the waterfront and the brewery as the cruisers assembled. Thanks for organizing this truly enjoyable evening. Chuck Davison
