Kris Bergseng

Kris M. Bergseng of Cathlamet, died June 24th at age 54, after a recent cancer diagnosis. Kris was born to Albert and Patti (Tate) Bergseng on June 28,1969 in Longview. He grew up in Cathlamet and moved to Clatskanie, Oregon after high school. Eight years ago, he returned to Cathlamet. He worked various jobs as a carpenter, commercial fisherman and mill worker. In 1999, he joined the Pile Drivers Local 2416 and has been with the union for 25 years. Kris enjoyed fishing, clam digging, riding motorcycles, woodworking, skydiving, scuba diving, the outdoors and spending time with his family.

He was a hard worker, jack of all trades and a quick learner. Kris put others before himself, always willing to help anyone. He was a loyal friend and family member, loved animals and had a great sense of humor.

Kris is survived by his parents, Albert Bergseng (Lynah) and Patti Tate, the love of his life, Kimberly Havens, a son, Joshua Bergseng, 2 brothers, Loren Bergseng and Bob Bergseng (Cathy), bonus kids, Jade Havens (Brianna), 2 grandchildren, Andreau and Emilee who called him “their favorite Papa”, an aunt, Julie Whitrock, an uncle Gary Bergseng (Vicki), cousins, Lisa, Eric, Lori, John and Jeni, a niece, Bailey Bergseng and 2 nephews Kohl and Kurtis Bergseng. Kris also leaves behind his “work family” whom he lived with during the week and will miss him tremendously.

A private family service was held for Kris on July second, 2024. He has been laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Cathlamet. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
