Betty Lou Lillian (Jackson) Bowles was born on April 17, 1935, in Missoula, Montana to parents Louis Jackson and Elma Sears. She was the fourth of nine children and two step children; Louis Jackson, Robert Jackson, Eugene Jackson, Bessie (Jackson) Axmaker, Shirley (Jackson) Magnuson, Evelyn (Patricia) (Jackson) Hopkins Mary (Jackson) DeMuth, Roger Jackson, Sandra Wolfe and Edwin Wolfe. Her family moved to Cathlamet, Wa. When Betty was five years old.
When Betty was eight years old she moved to Rosburg, Wa. when Mr. and Mrs. John Heldt took nine of the children in as foster children. Betty graduated from Naselle High School in Naselle, Wa. in 1954.
When Betty was 19 years old, she met Lloyd Blanchard, they married in 1955 and moved to Seattle, Wa. Together they had three children, Marshall, Raymond, Susan. After they divorced, she moved to Caldwell, Idaho and met and married Gene Gifford and divorced in 1968, Betty worked as a CNA at Cascade Nursing home and as a single mother was able to purchase her home. While working there she met George Byrum Bowles and was married on August 3, 1983. Before retiring and afterwards George and Betty enjoyed many outdoor activities; camping, fishing, traveling to the Grand Canyon National Park, taking in Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
After George passed away in 2004, Betty still enjoyed traveling with her children to Disneyland, an Alaskan Cruise and Yellowstone in an RV. Betty enjoyed sewing, crocheting, yard sales, cooking, playing games, yard work, beautiful, embroidered quilts, and spending time with family especially grandchildren whom she loved so much. Family was important to her and because of her the family remains very tight knit.
Betty was a loving, nurturing woman who brought joy to those around her. Betty was a devout Seventh Day Adventist and steadfast in her faith.
Betty passed away in a local care facility on May 14, 2024 and was preceded in death by Louis Jackson, Gene Jackson, Mary DeMuth, Ed Wolfe, Sandra Wolfe, and is survived by siblings Bessie (Lee) Axmaker, Shirley (Stubby) Magnuson, Robert (Bob)(Nita) Jackson, Patricia Hopkins, Roger Jackson and her three children Marshall (Denise) Blanchard, Raymond (Kathy) Blanchard, Susan (Ray) Weigold, Six grandchildren Todd (Jen) Blanchard, Renee (Otis) Hunsinger, Jennifer (Todd) Lanham, Jessica (Steve) Wilson, Kris ( (Colleen) Byrum, Kyle Byrum, 10 great grandchildren, Devin (Stephanie) Roberts, Sean Roberts, Jada Hunsinger, Kaia Hunsinger, Dalton Lewis, Caitlyn Lewis, Cooper Lietz, Emily Wilson, Elliette Byrum, June Byrum, and one great great grandchild Beau Hampton. Funeral service and celebration of life were held on June 21, 2024 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens and the Seventh Day Adventist Church, by Dakan Funeral Chapel http://www.dakanfuneralchapel.com
