Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Wahkiakum School District began its search for a replacement superintendent with an announcement carried throughout the state. The school board received many applications and invited five candidates for in-person interviews. The first round of interviews is now completed. The school board has invited back two candidates for an additional interview, and to meet the public. The two candidates will be here sometime next week, June 17th-21st. The dates and times were not available at press time. This will be a great opportunity for anyone in our community to meet and ask questions of our next superintendent. Check the district website for updates on the candidates, and the meeting locations, dates, times, and meeting format. Our next school board meeting is June 18th, where we will get the latest updates. Patty Anderson, school board member, explained: "We can't set these public meeting dates until they confirm their availability. We will get this info out as soon as we can. Please come in and meet the candidates, ask questions, and get to know them." If all goes as planned, the school board will make a candidate decision by June 28th to give our new superintendent plenty of time to get ready for the next school year.
