Two hospitalized after head-on collision

Cause: distracted driving

Two drivers were taken to regional hospitals following a head on collision on SR 4 at Bunker Hill between Cathlamet and Longview on Tuesday morning.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Jeremy N. Douglas of Longview was westbound in a 2000 Toyota Camry when he crossed the center line and struck an eastbound Plymouth Voyager driven by Cathlamet resident Dale Costich. Both vehicles came to rest blocking the roadway.

Douglas was transported by ambulance to St. John Medical Center in Longview. Costich was transferred by ambulance to Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver.

Both vehicles were total losses. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. The cause was listed as distracted driving.
