Mules off to a strong start

The Wahkiakum Mules girls basketball team got off to a good start last Thursday with a 55-5 win against Three River Christian in front of a home crowd.

Amirah Abdul-Kariem and Amy Horman led the team in scoring with 13 points apiece. Payton Mendez added 12 and Jessie LeFever had eight. Brienna Cothren scored four points, while Maddalena Fontana and Esther Bouts contributed two each. Samantha Dela Cruz also got on the scorebook with a successful free throw.

On Saturday, they lost to La Center 47-20. Mendez had 13 points, while Abdul-Kariem and LeFever kicked in three each. Horman scored one point.

The Mules return to play on Saturday at home again, this time taking on Napavine. The girls will host Onalaska Wednesday.
