Alyssa Graybeal, the Astoria writer and cartoonist whose memoir Floppy was awarded the Red Hen Press Nonfiction Book Award, will lead a workshop for writers who want to develop their own memoirs on Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Zoom. The workshop, presented by the Writer’s Guild of Astoria, is free to Guild members, thanks to a grant from the Clatsop County Cultural Coalition.

Graybeal is a writer and cartoonist whose work explores the emotional landscape of chronic illness and disability. Her memoir Floppy: Tales of a Genetic Freak of Nature at the End of the World (2023) is about living with the connective tissue disorder Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. She works as an editor and writing coach, and lives in Astoria.
