Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The second annual Cup of Sunshine food drive competition is over, and the Norse Hall was declared the winner of this year's competition, which raised 575 pounds for local food banks.
Jabber Shack owner Sue Zabel is the founder and organizer of the event, which took place between June 1 and July 15 this year. She challenged businesses around the county to collect non-perishable food items for local food banks, with the business to bring in the most items taking home a trophy designed by local artist Ruth Doumit. The event was supported by the Lions Club, which was involved in the count to determine the winner on Tuesday.
The contest is over for now, but donations for local food banks, including non-perishable food items and toiletries, can be dropped off at Jabber Shack anytime. Photo by Diana Zimmerman.
