This year’s musical concert features the duo Revontuli, with harp and kantele instrument performances by Valerie Blessley and Jennifer Pratt-Walter. Blessley has twice been nominated for Finlandia Foundation Performer of the Year and was first runner-up in 2007. She performs on harp, kanteles and woodwinds. The duo have been playing together since 1995 and have several recordings. In December 2016, Celtic Muse were the featured performers for the 100-year celebration at the Nordic Center at Pacific Lutheran University.
Following the concert, a cocktail hour and meet and greet session with the performers will be held. Wine will be served along with a variety of hors d’oeuvres.
Kantele and harp lessons are offered at 3 p.m., prior to the performance on Saturday at The Chinook Event Center and Sunday at various times at The Appelo Archives Center. Sunday lessons are available for sign-up at the concert. Sign up and purchase lessons on Appelo Archives Center website, AppeloAchrives.org.
