Graduation takes place on Friday and Saturday for Wahkiakum and Naselle seniors.
Wahkiakum High School will hold their graduation in the football field again this year and this time, students will sit in the field while guests will watch from the grandstands, extra bleachers, and folding chairs.
The event takes place on Friday, June 9. Guests are welcome beginning at 5:30 p.m., and graduation will begin at 6 p.m.
Speakers this year include Valedictorian Reigha Niemeyer, Salutatorian Malia Ana Silva, Faculty and Class selection Gabe Gumicio, and Class Advisors Don Cox and Katelyn Kincaid.
The motto this year is “Individuality makes us different; respect brings us together. Class of 2023 Forever.”
Naselle’s Class of 2023 will hold their graduation in the Lyle Patterson Gymnasium at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 10.
Class President Brayden Colombo will do the welcome address and ASB Vice President Bella Colombo will be the class speaker. Sylvia Hoagland will be this year’s faculty speaker.
Salutatorian Brynn Tarabochia and Valedictorian Kolten Lindstrom will join Superintendent Lisa Nelson in presenting the class and the moving of the tassels.
Juniors Dean Helvey and Jacob Pakenen will be this year’s ushers and flag bearers. Chandra Shrives and Haleigh See are the senior class advisors.
This year’s class motto is from the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
