Sheriff's Report, May 11, 2023

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

May 1 — 1:19 a.m. A caller accidentally dialed 911. 6:30 a.m. State patrol requested aid when a car rolled over on SR 4 in the Grays River area. Injuries were unknown. The Grays River ambulance and the Grays River Fire Department responded 10:01 a.m. A caller found a semi and shipping container parked on her parent’s property in the Skamokawa area. Identification numbers were spray painted over. The truck company was contacted and they said that the truck and trailer were stolen, adding that they hadn’t been reported yet. A tow was called and law enforcement from Union Pacific responded. Multiple stolen vehicles were recovered from the scene. 2:01 p.m. A resident in Skamokawa reported a stolen vehicle and said he believed the car had been seen in the Cathlamet area. 3:22 p.m. A student was found with marijuana on school grounds in Cathlamet. 3:33 p.m. A man woke up in his neighbor’s house on Puget Island, confused and unsure how he got there. 4:13 p.m. A caller said he was threatened, grabbed, and thrown out of the house by his stepfather. A deputy spoke with both parties. There were no injuries reported. The stepfather was upset that the caller was not working. No law enforcement action was taken. 7:39 p.m. A caller said that someone was flying a small airplane low over Puget Island and scaring livestock.

May 2 — 4:54 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an ailing Deep River resident. 9:43 a.m. A caller was concerned about the mental state of a person driving away from a Rosedale business. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the vehicle. 9:47 a.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle. 10:56 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Cathlamet resident. A deputy saw the person and relayed information from the caregiver to the concerned party. 12:06 p.m. A caller requested a civil standby to retrieve a motor home from a property in the Elochoman Valley. 1:13 p.m. A caller reported a cow on a Puget Island road. A deputy responded and reported that neighbors were able to get the cow back in the pasture. 4:01 p.m. The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families advised that a minor had reported a sexual assault at a Skamokawa area home. 5:25 p.m. The Grays River ambulance transported a Rosburg resident to the hospital. 6:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with a nosebleed.

May 3 — 9:26 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and a deputy responded to a Rosedale home to aid someone complaining of chest and back pain. 11:18 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported harassment. 4:05 p.m. Someone reported being harassed at school and over text. 4:09 p.m. A deputy pursued someone on a silver street bike on Elochoman Valley Road. 9:21 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported suspicious activity and said that their dogs were going crazy. 10:05 p.m. A caller accidentally dialed 911.

May 4 — 7:10 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island home. The alarm was canceled by the alarm company. 10:13 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported an ongoing problem of people trespassing on his deck, near his house, and on other areas of his property. 5 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient with high blood pressure to the hospital. 9:14 p.m. A Skamokawa resident concerned about suspicious activity reported that a car had shown up. At 9:34 p.m., state patrol called for cover units. 10:59 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident who was having breathing problems.

May 5 — 8:30 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who was complaining of abdominal and lower back pain and general weakness. 9:18 p.m. A caller reported an oil slick in the westbound lane of SR 4 on the east side of KM. 11:41 a.m. A Rosburg resident said he loaned a pellet gun that didn’t belong to him to someone who was now refusing to return it. He was told to ask the owner to tell the person who had it to return it. If he still refused, he was advised that the owner should contact the sheriff’s office. 1:42 p.m. A caller in East Valley said that a herd of cows had pushed a gate down and were now in a field with his cows. 9:30 p.m. A caller said that he was walking on Elochoman Valley Road when someone driving a large red Chevy truck almost struck him, then backed up before driving on. 10:51 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident with diabetes who was having a reaction after drinking some juice.

May 6 — 10:33 a.m. A caller receiving a strange flash message on her cell phone. 10:53 a.m. An alarm was activated at a home on Altoona/Pillar Rock Road. A deputy responded. 6:08 p.m. An individual was arrested at a Puget Island home after a domestic disturbance was reported. 7:37 p.m. A caller said a motorhome covered by a tarp had shown up at the fishing pull out on Elochoman Valley Road. 8:25 p.m. A caller reported that a man pulled into a boat ramp in Skamokawa with a generator in his skiff that was not in the skiff when he left earlier. The man headed east on SR 4 pulling the skiff behind his silver SUV. 11:13 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that someone was trespassing after seeing a light in the shed and a pickup with a canopy or a van on his property. He said neighbors were roaming the area. Deputies and state patrol responded. 11:29 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver heading west on SR 4 in the Abe Creek Hill area.

May 7 — 12:41 a.m. A state patrolman reported that he tried to stop the driver of a black Charger for speeding on SR 4 in the Alger Creek area, but it sped away doing 120 mph or more. 1:59 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who was having difficulty breathing. 11:54 p.m. An alarm was activated at a home on Altoona/Pillar Rock Road. A deputy responded and found everything secure. 4:39 p.m. A Beaver Creek resident complained that teenagers on dirt bikes were making a lot of noise. The caller said they were wearing helmets but did not have lights on their bikes. Dispatch could hear the noise in the background. Deputies responded but could not locate the riders. 4:45 p.m. A caller accidentally dialed 911.
