Mules Softball

The Wahkiakum Mules softball team is growing every day while earning a degree in hard knocks and perseverance, but last Tuesday the tough young team got to taste a win, beating Oakville 28-25.

According to Coach Garrett Miller, Evelynn Miller went two for two with three walks and scored four runs, Alaya Cripe was two for three with three runs scored, and Helen Lewis, Evelyn Hogue, and Zoe Dorian all went one for two.

Cripe pitched four innings, striking out two, and Miller closed out the game striking out two batters in the last inning, Coach Miller said.

On Thursday they played a double header in Kalama, and lost both games 15-0 to the Chinooks.

Cripe pitched three innings and struck out two Kalama batters. On offense, she went one for two at the plate. Lewis was one for one.

In the nightcap, Miller was one for two at the plate and also pitched three innings and struck out three batters.

On Monday, the Mules hosted Winlock and lost 19-6 and 21-11. OnTuesday, they traveled to Rainier where they lost 16-1.

The Mules are 1-14 overall and 0-8 in conference. They host Toutle Lake on Thursday (today), and travel to Ilwaco on Tuesday. Their final game of the regular season will be on the road in Onalaska the next day.
