Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Writer expresses thanks to Nelson family

To The Eagle:

Dear Sir, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones every day. May you find strength, comfort and peace through these very difficult times.

I hope somehow the community finds a way to keep The Wahkiakum Eagle newspaper going as I know, Sir, is your hope also.

I for one, thank you and the Nelson Family for the many years you provided the newspaper with the information needed to make informed decisions about candidates in elections, letting us know what the county commissioners and town council were doing, keeping us up to date with local sports, local business and the many things that happen to be going on in our community.

The Eagle always brought into the light what local government was doing, absent the paper I am concerned that local government will be operating in the dark, we all know there are many things done in the dark you would never do in the light.

If there is a group interested in coming up with ideas to keep The Wahkiakum Eagle going, count me in. I for one Mr. Nelson, know how important this newspaper is to you, me and our community.

To the staff at The Eagle, I can only imagine how hard it must be to do your work at a time like this, but as always I know you will.

May God Bless.

I would sometimes stop in and see Rick when I was in town. I have a tree farm in Skamokawa. I too would be interested in helping keep the paper alive. Maybe a bunch of people could run it like a subchapter S corporation with some shareholders
