Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
To The Eagle:
The America that those of us that came of age in the 1950's and early '60's knew no longer exists, period. Discipline was removed from the schools because the precious little ones weren't to be made to feel bad about anything ever. Wouldn't want to damage their little egos, now would we? Now everybody gets the prize regardless of ability or effort or more precisely lack of effort. How sad. Homogenizing milk might be a good idea but not society.
This lack of discipline is very much present in both political parties as neither of them seems to know what's going on or what to do about much of anything so important issues get swept under the rug and the minutia of nonsense rules the day.
I'm just flabbergasted that neither party has anyone better than a rip off con man or an aged quite possibly senile character to run our once great America. The Fourth Reich is just around the country and half the country has no problem with it and the other half has no idea what the Third Reich even was. We're screwed.
With the population explosion overwhelming our society's ability to deal with the obvious issue of lack of housing rather begs the question as to why wouldn't birth control and even abortion be encouraged rather than the opposite. Religion raises it's all too often ugly head and all bets are off for common sense.
Howard Brawn is sorely missed and the tribute to him hosted by his wife, Judy, and his children yesterday at the farm on Puget Island was a testimonial to his abiding presence. Met Paul Schreiber for the first time which was great! We frequently cross pens in these letters and I for one found him to be a nice guy.
