To The Eagle:
I ran across this analogy the other day about ant behavior and thought it asked a question that maybe we should all be asking ourselves when we watch TV, listen to the radio or read our favorite newspaper or political magazine.
If you collect 100 black ants and 100 fire ants and put them in a glass jar, nothing will happen.
But if you take the jar, shake it violently and leave it on the table, the ants will start killing each other. Red believes that black is the enemy, while black believes that red is the enemy when the real enemy is the person who shook the jar.
The same is true in society. Men vs Women. Black vs White. Faith vs Science. Conservative vs liberal. Young vs Old. Etc…
Before we fight each other, maybe we should first ask ourselves three questions. Why do I believe what I believe? Is what I believe really true? And are my beliefs really my own or someone else’s?
The answer to these questions may reveal ‘Whose shaking the jar?’
