Volunteers with sewing experience sought

The Sewing and Textile Advisors of Cowlitz County with WSU Extension 4-H youth program are looking for volunteers with sewing experience and fiber skills for a short-term commitment. Sewing and Textile Advisors endeavor to teach a broad range of sewing and other “fiber skills.” The following skills: such as knitting, tatting, crocheting, and stitchery will be options to adults and children through hands-on learning. Sewing skills using a sewing machine, fabric, notions, patterns, and other fiber art specific tools are part of the program. The group plans and hosts a weeklong summer sew camp for youth. They encourage all participants to accomplish the project presented or chosen depending on the level of their experience.

The Sewing and Textile Advisors meet the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. at 304 Cowlitz Way, Kelso. Contact Jennifer Leach, Cowlitz County WSU 4-H Youth Faculty at 360-577-3014 Ext 4 or jleach@wsu.edu for more information.

They will also host a Spring Break Sewing Camp April 4, 10 a.m. -noon for children 8-18. Beginners and/or those with some sewing experience are welcome. The cost is $10 and fabric will be provided.
