To The Eagle:

A contributor helpfully illustrated last week how Republicans distort issues to inflame conservative voters. Take a look behind his insinuations about:

“Ongoing deterioration of our military?” Our professional armed forces are second to none. He thinks training soldiers to fight both enemies in the field and racial and gender discrimination within their own ranks, causes martial weakness. It doesn’t. It promotes moral strength.

“Erasure of our national borders?” Factually, more immigrants enter the U.S. legally than not. That writer is likely complaining because desperate refugees crossing our southern border don’t have white ethnic pedigrees. Embracing the “tired, poor, huddled masses, yearning to breathe free”* has strengthened America more than building barriers ever will.

“Sterilization of minors with government gender bending?” A disingenuous, morally repugnant condemnation of compassionate parents, mental health and medical professionals who succor gender dysphoric youth. Republicans have heartlessly publicized and politicized these deeply complex, private family issues.

“Half the population has been demonized?” By Republicans - who’ve stripped women of their reproductive health care rights and choices, and are ‘white washing’ children’s education through reactionary legislation, imposing ultra conservative school curriculums that promote denial of America’s historical failures regarding race and gender.

“Americans have been fractured into tribes?” The repercussions of Trump’s Big Lie have divided society into those who value facts, reason and decency - and others who regurgitate Republican’s venomous disinformation and conspiracy theories.

Patriots help their children read books - not burn them. Vote for compassion, honesty and social justice. Keep America great. Vote Democratic.
