Mary Lou Riley

Mary Lou Riley 80, of Mountain Home, Idaho, died October 15, 2022 at her home. She was born in Wallace, Idaho to Verne and Nettie (Peterson) Dodge.

On July 8, 1959 Mary Lou married Larry Riley. They moved to Cathlamet where they raised their family. She worked for many years at St. James Family Center, as a beloved teacher. She and Larry were foster parents for over 20 years. She loved children and making a difference in their lives.

She joined the Church of Latter Day Saints at age nine and was a self-taught pianist, playing for the church for most of her life. She also enjoyed embroidery and handicrafts.

She is survived by Larry at home; a son, Jon Riley; five daughters, Dana Lager, Cena Morris, Carol Gray, Cindi and Caitlynn Riley; a sister, Mida Rose Pedersen and two brothers, Vern (Jake) and Jim Dodge; 24 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mary Lou was preceded in death by a son Michael Riley and a grandson Collan Riley.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 24, 11:00 a.m., at Greenwood Cemetery in Cathlamet. Donations may be made in Mary Lou’s name to the Missionary Fund of LDS Church. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
