The visiting Raymond/South Bend Ravens handed the Wahkiakum Mules a 48-20 loss in the second game of the 2022 football season last Friday.
The Mules scored first, with Dominic Curl running in a 6-yard touchdown. Nathan Garrett kicked the conversion, and the Mules led 7-0 in the second quarter.
From there the Ravens rattled off 22 straight points and took a 22-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Mules opened the third quarter with Brodie Avalon passing to Curl for a 69-yard touchdown.
The Mule defense cut the Raven lead to 28-20 when Kyler Sause returned a fumble for a touchdown.
From there, however, the game belonged to the visitors and they earned the 48-20 victory.
The Ravens gained 339 yards total with 335 on the ground and four in the air. Running back Tyler Reidinger led all rushers with 161 yards.
The Mules gained 281 yards, 115 on the ground and 166 in the air. Zakk Carlson led the Mule runners with 98 yards; Curl finished with 23.
Avalon completed eight of 13 passes for 166 yards and one touchdown; he had three interceptions. Curl and Carlson each caught three passes.
On defense, Tanner Collupy had four tackles and eight assists; Carlson was 3/8, Curl 3/1, Landon Nielson 2/6 and Grant Wilson 2/4.
This Friday, the Mules head to Menlo to play Pe Ell/Willapa Valley, 18-14 victors over Adna last Friday.
