District 19 challengers hold town hall

To The Eagle:

Three candidates are challenging our incumbents to represent us in the Olympia legislature: Cara Cusack from Chehalis, Jon-Erik Hegstad from Longview, and Kelli Hughes-Ham from Ilwaco. All three will be in a Town Hall Wednesday June 22 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in person, at the Norse Hall (downstairs) on Puget Island. Their meeting will also be live on Zoom and recorded on YouTube for later viewing. To receive the Zoom link (limited to 60) or to sign up for in-person registration (limited to 25), please email the organizers at WahkiakumVotes@gmail.com.

All three of these candidates are running as Democrats, and they claim they represent the values of our county better than the two incumbents, Jim Walsh and Joel McIntire. As in previous Town Halls, the audience won't be asking questions directly. Please send your questions for Cara Cusack, or Jon-Erik Hegstad, or Kelli Hughes-Ham to the organizers at WahkiakumVotes@gmail.com by June 21.

The campaign season is upon us. The next election is the primary on August 2, with ballots being sent out July 15. That gives us less than a month to learn about candidates and issues. The mission of Wahkiakum Votes is for our county to have over 90 percent of our registered voters actually vote. Investigate, then exercise your constitutional responsibility.

Ron Wright,

Wahkiakum County Democratic Party Chair
