Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal will speak to Lower Columbia College's second graduating class of Bachelor of Applied Science-Teacher Education students on June 13. The ceremony for graduates and their families will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Wollenberg Auditorium on the LCC campus.
Superintendent Reykdal took the helm at the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in January 2017. He is a former teacher, soccer coach, school board director, state legislator, and executive with the Washington Community and Technical College system.
Since taking office, Reykdal has received leadership awards from the Association of Washington School Principals, Washington Association of School Administrators, MESA USA (Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievements), and others.
Twenty-one students will receive their Bachelor of Applied Science in Teacher Education (BAS-TE) degrees from LCC this year. The BASTE program is tailored to working adults with options for residency teacher certification or a focus in early care and education. LCC offers endorsements in elementary education and early childhood education.
