Covid-19 update

No new cases this week; caution still advised

By Diana ZimmermanWith no new official cases of covid-19 reported in the last week, the cumulative number in Wahkiakum County remains at 313 according to Wahkiakum Health and Human Services, with three cases still active from last week.

Disclaimer: With the easy availability of at home tests, it's impossible to know exactly how many cases of covid-19 are actually currently active in the county.

There have been 31 hospitalizations reported and seven deaths attributed to the virus in Wahkiakum County, according to the Washington Department of Health.

WHHS Director Chris Bischoff says that cases continue to rise around the country and the state.

"For those that are concerned, now might be a good time to be more diligent about social distancing and mask wearing," Bischoff said.

Washington is reporting that 74.3 percent of the population age five and up is fully vaccinated. Wahkiakum County remains well behind, with 50.1 percent of the same population considered fully vaccinated.
