The Wahkiakum High School Mule track team started their season competing with six other teams at a 1B/2B League Meet in Kalama on March 17.
For the Mule boys, sophomore Daniel Spisla-Honga finished in fourth place in the 800 meters with a 2:56.57. Sophomore Nathan Garrett had two third place finishes--in the 1600 meters with a 5:49.77 and in the 3200 meters with a time of 13:10.69.
Senior Wayne Harrison took fourth place in the discus with a throw of 81-03, and junior Landon Nielsen took sixth place with a throw of 77-01.
In the javelin event, Nielsen also took second with a throw of 133-00, and Harrison finished in fourth place with a throw of 121-00.
Nielsen won the high jump event, clearing 5-04.
For the girls, sophomore Lilian Hale finished in fifth place in the 100 meters with a time of 15.26.
Junior Reigha Niemeyer took second place in the shot put with a toss of 25-05, followed by Hale, who took third with 24-04.5. Niemeyer also took first in javelin with a throw of 91-08.
Hale took second in the long jump with a leap of 12-08.
The girls took fifth place out of seven teams with a score of 25. The boys took fifth place as well, with a score of 28.
The Mules join seven other teams for another league meet in Ocosta today (Thursday).
