Lady Mules win 2

The Wahkiakum Mules girls basketball team finished the week with two more wins, bringing their overall record to 9-4.

On Monday, the Lady Mules beat Winlock at home 61-29.

“I thought it was a testament to just how far this team has come,” Coach Rob Garrett said. “I’ve been a little hard on them lately simply because I see what they can become and I felt as though we were settling and not playing with all out effort. We weren’t perfect by any means tonight, but we were great. The girls played with phenomenal effort and took the things we have been working on in practice into the game.”

“Not only did they play a great game,” he continued, “but I thought they did an awesome job of celebrating each other, letting their mistakes go, and having a blast. This team has already come a long way. Keep growing a little each day and keep pushing to new levels and great things will come to this team. I’m very happy with this team tonight.”

Emmie Niemela led the team with 18 points and nine rebounds. Reigha Niemeyer had 11 points and four steals. Courtney Carlson added nine points, seven assists, and six rebounds. Miya Kerstetter had eight points and eight rebounds. Megan Leitz had six points, eight rebounds, and seven steals. Bailey McKinley added six points.
