Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
4-H volunteers are hosting an online auction to benefit Wahkiakum 4-H youth now through December 5 at 3 p.m. The Covered Bridge Dinner is a well-attended Wahkiakum 4-H annual fundraiser to help raise money for 4-H youth scholarships, but Wahkiakum 4-H was unable to host the dinner for two years due to COVID-19 restrictions. Local 4-H supporters came together to donate items and create an online auction to support 4-H in lieu of the dinner. Local artisans donated a variety of Wahkiakum-made works, including baked goods, jewelry, quilts, and a variety of art pieces. The auction website is https://www.32auctions.com/Wahkiakum4H. Item pictures and details will also be available at the Jabber Shack at 65 Main Street in Cathlamet.
The money raised from this event is used to help youth in post-secondary school, animal clinics, leadership events like 4-H Teen Conference and Teen Summit, Know Your Government in Olympia, and 4-H membership enrollment fees.
Winning bidders may pick up their items at the Extension office at 25 River Street, Suite E, in Cathlamet, or arrange shipping by calling 360-795-3278.
