Lady Mules head to state VB tourney

The Wahkiakum Mules volleyball team battled their way through the consolation bracket of the district tourney last week to earn a spot at the State 2B tournament, which takes place today (Thursday) and Friday in Yakima.

A loss to Kalama on October 30 sent the team to the loser’s bracket. They played the first of two loser out games on November 3, beating Napavine in four sets and Stevenson in three sets.

The second win that day guaranteed them a trip to the state tournament, but they had to return to district play on November 6 to determine seeding. They lost to Adna in three sets and later that day, there was a coin toss with Rainier, which the Lady Mules lost, giving them sixth place finish in the District 4 2B tournament.

The Lady Mules start the double elimination state tournament today (Thursday) at 9:45 a.m. with a game against second ranked Colfax.
