Lady Mules' consistent play leads to victories

The Wahkiakum Mules volleyball team continued their winning streak with two more victories this week, bringing their overall record to 3-6.

On Thursday, the team traveled to Randle and beat the Morton/White Pass Timberwolves in three sets, 25-15, 25-13, and 25-12.

“We played pretty consistently tonight, and the girls' hard work is starting to show,” Coach Kayli Hurley said. “Our bench is a huge part of our success, so shout out to their fire and selfless efforts to help the team.”

Kamryn Watkins and Lily Hale had four kills apiece. Bailey McKinley had three kills and Miya Kerstetter added two more. Libero Reigha Niemeyer had 12 digs. Amirah Abdul-Kariem, Megan Leitz, Niemeyer and Watkins were all 100 percent from the service line.

On Tuesday, the Lady Mules traveled to Winlock and won in four sets, 21-25, 30-28, 25-13, and 25-17.

“We made some good progress tonight in our consistency in both the volleyball and mental aspects of the game,” Coach Hurley said.

Leitz led with 12 kills. Watkins and McKinley had five kills each. Setter Courtney Carlson had four kills and put up 28 assists.

“Reigha Niemeyer played a great defensive game,” Coach Hurley said of her libero, “and had 12 digs, 100 percent serving and awesome serve receive.”

The team hosts Stevenson tonight (Thursday) and travels to Adna on Tuesday.
