Fiber arts festival planned Sept. 10-12 at fairgrounds

Wahkiakum County fiber arts enthusiasts will present the Wahkiakum Farm 2 Fiber Festival to showcase their crafts in a three-day event, Sept 10-12 at the Wahkiakum County Fairgrounds in Skamokawa.

Events and classes planned for Friday, Sept. 10, include: Support spindle demonstrations; rug hooking class; and a make it-take it spindle class.

Events and classes planned for Saturday, Sept. 11, include: Kumihimo friendship bracelets (age 7 and up); rug hooking; support spindles; a make it-take it spindle class; crochet a dishcloth; and wet felting.

The fairgrounds will be busy that Saturday with two other events--the monthly flea market and Show 2 of the 2021 Wahkiakum Horse Gaming series.

Events and classes planned for Sunday, Sept. 12, include: Pygora fleece show (fleece only) in the poultry barn; Kumihimo friendship bracelets (age 7 and up), a Pygora goat show (live) in the indoor arena, and a raw fleece sale (vendors check in at 1:30 p.m.).

Participants are asked to pre-register for classes online at http://www.wahkiakumfair.org.

There will be demonstrations throughout all three days on quilting, rug hooking, spinning and weaving.

Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

They are still accepting applications for vendors, educators, instructors, demonstrators and food vendors. There is still time to register and they are accepting all livestock stall reservations until September 6 for goats, sheep, alpaca and llamas for the fiber event.
