To The Eagle:
Any police officer who cries about police reform and the positive changes states like ours are making to policing are part and parcel to the problem.
Defund The Police means bringing more accountability to policing and moving functions and responsibilities to others who are better suited to execute them.
I propose states start by doing away with elected sheriffs policing in their communities and have them return to a more traditional role as jailers and security/custodians of the courts. Research shows that elected sheriffs around the country have unparalleled autonomy and tremendous unchecked power in the communities they police, with very little accountability they operate with little to no oversight, auditing, or scrutiny. 60 percent of sheriffs run unopposed.
