Town council covers priorities, street plan

On Monday the Cathlamet Town Council held a short meeting to discuss a few agenda items including a brief follow up on the council’s priority list for development.

Council Member Bill Wainwright announced that he received lists from all but one council member after which point he will present an overview of the council’s priorities.

Other items included Judy Vandermaten’s swift appointment to Trustee Position No. 4 on the Library Board; a request by Council Member Robert Stowe for the public works superintendent to create an asset management plan in order to forecast repair and maintenance costs for budgeting purposes; the approval of an ordinance recognizing Juneteenth as a legal state holiday going into effect in 2022; and the approval of the town’s annual review for its six-year street program plan.

The street program plan includes putting Butler street improvements to the top of the priority list followed by Alder and S. Second Street, 2nd Street, Chester and 2nd Street, S. Third Street, and Columbia Street.
